If you suspect that your insurance company cancelled or non-renewed your homeowners policy because of wildfire risk, after the declared state of emergency date for your zip code, you have the right to have your policy reinstated. 

  • Check the state of emergency date against the date on your cancellation/non-renewal letter
  • if the cancellation is dated after the state of emergency date, contact your insurance company and request reinstatement of the policy
