Thanksgiving Storm 2019

12/3/2019 (Permalink)

Tree on Home Winter Storms Can Leave You without Power, Be Prepared!

This Thanksgiving week Big Bear received the largest storm in more than 50 years. The snow caused gridlock on all roads leading to the mountain communities and eventually closure of all roads on the holiday. More than 8,000 people were still without power as of Saturday. Many gas stations ran out of fuel and grocery stores out of supplies, as delivery trucks were not able to reach them.

This serves as a reminder of how important it is to be prepared for these situations.

  • In your car, carry chains/cables, water, blankets and warm clothing, jumper cables, ice scrapers and flashlights. Make sure you have plenty of fuel before embarking.
  • For your home be prepared with non-perishable groceries, water, shovels, extra medication, baby supplies, heat and light sources (propane camping items are suggested).

Remember that SERVPRO of Big Bear is here to help with disasters, including trees that have fallen on your home, tarping of roofs, emergency generators, water leak repairs and more.
